Sunday Events

Voltage was awesome, but we had more to do! On Sunday, we started off by visiting Vintage City Classic (http://www.vintagecityclassics.com/). They were so busy that we barely had time to chat with our friend Joan there. I think that being featured in Voltage has been great for them! Our favorite items of theirs were hair accessories. We both bought headbands that been wrapped in silk and decorated with various flowers, feathers and charms! Jessica also got a hair clip with a very cute zipper edging. We'll be back for more!

After VCC, we headed over to Spill the Wine in downtown Minneapolis. They were having this very cool event with live hair demos and model photo stations. It was such a cool idea!! Our friend Lauren Koehne was one of the designers being featured. Flower Child Designs (http://www.etsy.com/shop/flowerchildapparel) is her brand and she had a few very cool looks being modeled and photographed. The event really gave us some great ideas for 'of Venus and Gaia's future.

Before heading to our final event, we stopped at Cosetta's for a late lunch. MMmmmmm.
Our day concluded with the American Craft Council show at the Rivercenter in St. Paul. There were a lot of new artists this year! A few favorites: Drive By Bags (http://www.etsy.com/shop/drivebybags). They recycle old billboards and make them into fabulous and practical bags. Great for lunch totes, beach bags, and now they are making some great messenger bags too! We love them!! Jessica got a new bag and Christina plans to get one in June when they are at the 50 Artists on 50th show. Christina loved the jewelry of Aaron Barr (http://www.aaronbarr.com/), specifically the wooden jewelry with pearl accents. It is very organic, simple and beautiful. The apparel that really took our breath away was Sarmite Wearable Art (http://www.sarmite.com/). WOW! The piecing was so amazing. Not only that, but it fit so well too! Simply amazing. The real reason we were there of course was for Christina's Mother-in-law, Mary Ellen. She has been doing this show for over 20 years! Check out her beautiful leather bags at http://turtleridgegallery.com/. She will also be designing some bags to go with our Fall line, so keep an eye out for that!
I think that's all for now, hope everyone is having a great fashion week so far :)
